Crocheting for beginners

THE BASIC RECEPTIONS OF CROCHETING

Patterns of knitting consist of different combinations of loops and columns. To the basic kinds of loops and columns concern: an air loop, half of a column, a column without a cover, half of a column with a cover, a column with a cover, columns with two, three covers and more.

Position of hands at crocheting

Chain of air loops. First of all it is necessary to learn to hold correctly a thread and a hook and to carry out the first loop. The end of a thread from a ball throw through an index finger of the left hand to itself and press its greater finger. The thread to a ball passes between a palm and other fingers of the left hand. Its tension adjust average and anonymous fingers. A hook hold between greater and index fingers of the right hand the same as a pencil or the handle (fig. 1). The index finger is a little extended forward and lays on a hook. A hook turn an edge to the left and movement from itself enter it under a thread from the left party. Having delayed a thread upwards from an index finger of the left hand, a hook with a thread turn around of a thread on 360 aside, opposite to movement of a hour hand (fig. 2). A greater finger of the left hand a thread press to index in that place where it was overwound. Again a hook enter under a thread going from a ball from the left party, and, having hooked its edge of a hook, drag through a loop which is being on a hook. The big finger take away, hold a tip of a thread and tighten a unit. A loop on a hook - the first. Having hooked a thread from below at the left, drag it through a loop which is being on a hook. It is 2-nd loop. Thus, it is possible to execute a number of loops which form a chain (fig. 2). Loops of a chain name air, and a thread going from a ball, - the worker.

Knitting of a chain

All columns and half columns carry out on loops of a chain, starting to knit first of them on 3-rd, 4-th or 5-th loop of a chain, depending on height of columns which are necessary for executing.

Half column

Half column. Having connected a chain, a hook enter into 3-rd loop of a chain, including from a loop which are being on a hook, and, having hooked a working thread, drag it through a loop of a chain and through a loop which is on a hook (fig. 3). So the half column is formed. Further enter a hook consistently into each following loop of a chain and drag a working thread through a loop of a chain and a loop which is being on a hook.

Column without a cover

Column without a cover. A hook enter into 3-rd loop of a chain, drag a working thread through a loop of a chain, again a working thread drag through both loops which are being on a hook (fig. 4).

Half column with a cover

Half column with a cover. Having knitted last loop of a chain, cover with a working thread and leave it on a hook (cover). Then enter a hook into 3-rd loop of a chain, cover with a thread and drag it through a loop of a chain. Again cover with a working thread and drag it through 2 loops and a cover, being on a hook (fig. 5). For reception of 2-nd column again do a cover on a hook, enter it into a following loop of a chain, drag through it a loop from a working thread and knit loops and a cover the same as in 1-st column.

Column with a cover

Column with a cover. A hook with last loop of a chain and a cover enter into 4-th loop of a chain, including from a hook, and drag through it a loop from a working thread. A loop and a cover which is being on a hook, knit so: having thrown with a working thread on a hook, drag it through a loop and a cover (fig. 6). Then, again having hooked a working thread, drag it through 2 loops which are being on a hook (fig. 6). The second column knit on a following loop of a chain.

Column with two covers

Column with two covers. Having connected a chain, do one behind another 2 covers on a hook, enter it into 4-th loop of a chain and, having thrown it a working thread, drag it through a loop of a chain. 2 loops and 2 covers which are being on a hook, knit so. First, having thrown with a working thread on a hook, drag it through a loop and 1-st cover, being on a hook (fig. 7). Then a working thread drag through a loop and 2-nd cover, and then again drag through 2 loops which have remained on a hook. Carrying out columns with 3 covers and more, do necessary number of covers, and all the loops which are being on a hook, knit gradually on two together. On the basis of loops and columns other elements of knitting are carried out all.

The leaf - is formed by columns with 1, 2 and 3 covers. The leaf from columns with 1-st cover is carried out so: knit 2 loops of 1-st column, do a cover and knit 2 loops of 2-nd column on the same loop of the basis. Loops on a hook knit all at once (not finished columns with a cover).

The magnificent column - from one loop of the basis is extended with 3 and more loops from a working string, doing a cover before each loop, and then loops and covers knit all at once in one step. Magnificent columns settle down in chessboard order, therefore between them the air loop is obligatory, and in a following number magnificent columns knit, entering a hook under an air loop previous of some.

Camber - knit from 5 columns with a cover on 1 loop of the basis. Having connected the fifth column, a hook take out from a loop, enter it into a loop of the first column, hook just the removed loop and drag it through a loop of 1-st column.

Half ring - 2 air loops between 2 columns without a cover.

Ringlet - 2-3 air loops closed in a ring between 2 columns without a cover.

Symbols of crocheting

Exercises from columns and air loops. Having seized the basic receptions of knitting, it is possible to practice in knitting the simple patterns consisting of columns and air loops.
Using two, three and more receptions of knitting in one pattern, it is possible to receive various motives (figures) in the form of paws, cockleshells, leafs, a teeth, etc. the Patterns consisting of one or several numbers of knitting, it is possible to represent schemes. Symbols of columns and air loops are given on fig. 8.
For performance of samples it is necessary to connect a chain of air loops which will form the basis for performance of a pattern.

Fig. 9. Knitting of exercises (the scheme and a general view): а - и - exercises; к - performance of a ringlet

Pattern 1. Having connected a chain, we carry out a column without a cover on 6-th loop of the basis (chain), then 2 air loops and a column without a cover on 3-rd loop of the basis, including from 1-st column. So we knit up to the end of a chain (fig. 9).

Pattern 2. On 5-th loop of the basis it is done 2 columns, 6-th loop it is passed, and on 7-th again we knit 2 columns, and so up to the end of a chain (fig. 9).

Pattern 3. We start to knit on 5-th loop of a chain on which it is knitted 5 columns. It would turn out like a cockleshell. Between cockleshells it is passed 4 loops of a chain (fig. 9).

Pattern 4. On 5-th loop of a chain it is carried out 2 columns with a cover, 2 air loops and 2 columns with a cover. Having passed in the basis 1 loop, on 2-nd we knit a column without a cover. Again we pass a loop in a chain and we knit 2 columns, 2 air loops and 2 columns on a loop of the basis (fig. 9).

Pattern 5. On 1-st loop of the basis we knit 3 columns with a cover, and between columns - but an air loop. Between paws an air loop it is not knitted, in the basis it is passed 3 loops of a chain (fig. 9).

Pattern 6. 1-st column with a cover is done on 5-th loop of the basis. Having connected a chain of 2 air loops, we carry out 2-nd column with a cover on the same loop of the basis. We pass 2 loops, on 3-rd we knit 2 columns and air loops between them, we receive "V" (fig. 9).

Pattern 7. On 3-rd loop of the basis we knit a column without a cover, on 4-th - a half column with a cover, on 5-th - a column with a cover, on 6-th - a column with 2 covers. Further columns it is carried out upside-down (fig. 9).

Pattern 8. On 3-rd loop of the basis 1-st column without a cover, on 4-th also a column without a cover, 3 air loops and 2-nd column is done. Having passed a loop in the basis, on 2-nd we knit again a column, and on 3-rd loop - a column without a cover, a chain of 3 air loops and 2-nd column without a cover (half ring). And so up to the end of a chain (fig. 9).

Pattern 9. Having executed 2 columns without a cover on 3-rd and 4-th loops of the basis, we knit a chain from 3 air (fig. 9). Then we enter a hook into a loop of last column (from above) and under a thread of the loop going from a chain (from right to left), and it is dragged under them a working thread (fig. 9). 2 loops which are being on a hook, we knit. Further we do 3 columns without a cover on 3 loops of the basis and a ringlet of 3 air loops, etc.
